DedupX Privacy Policy

Summary

We collect almost nothing. No analytics, no telemetry, no file data. Your files never leave your Mac. License validation only sends the minimum data needed to verify your purchase. Local license and trial state is stored in the encrypted macOS Keychain.

What we do not collect

Usage statistics, crash reports, or analytics
File names, paths, or content from your scans
Personal information beyond what is needed for licensing
Tracking or behavioral advertising data

Scans run entirely on your Mac. Scan contents are not uploaded to us.

What we collect

For license validation only:

License key and email (you provide during activation)
Device identifier (hardware UUID and device name)
Validation timestamp

When: License activation, periodic validation while licensed (about every 7 days), and deactivation.
On your Mac: License and trial state is stored in the encrypted macOS Keychain.

We use this only to verify that you purchased DedupX (or are within the free trial).

Third-party services

Dodo Payments — payment processing (PCI-DSS). We do not receive your full payment card details.
GitHub — hosting of release downloads and the Sparkle appcast feed used for updates.
Apple — if you use Photos Library features, DedupX uses Apple PhotoKit APIs on your device under Apple’s Photos permission model. Your photo library is not uploaded to us.

Your rights and choices

Access local data: Keychain Access → search “DedupX”
Delete local data: Uninstall the app and remove related Keychain entries
Move to another Mac: Deactivate the license on the old machine, then activate on the new one

If you are in a jurisdiction with additional privacy rights (for example under Indian IT rules or other applicable law), contact us and we will help where we can. Because we store very little personal data, most requests are handled by deactivating your license and deleting local Keychain entries.

No selling of data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data for advertising. We share license-related data with payment and licensing infrastructure only as needed to operate DedupX.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of DedupX after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
